UPDF Trains Non Commissioned Officers at Moroto Army Barracks
The 3rd Infantry Division of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has boosted it’s operational readiness with a successful completion of Leadership and Ideological Training with over 100 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) at Moroto Army Barracks.
Major General Wilberforce Sserunkuma Karate,Division Commander presided over the pass-out event and commended the soldier’s resilience and transformation.
Maj. Gen Karate urged all Commanders to ensure proper Ideological Clarity and Leadership Qualities through continuous training programs.”
He called on commanders to prioritise trainings of troops and guarantee security at all seasons as a pivotal Foundation for Socio-Economic Transformation.
Colonel Allan Kyangungu, Deputy Division Commander said,the course strengthens the foundation of the Army while enhancing Morale, Cohesion, Teamwork, and Discipline among Non Commissioned Officers.
He also encouraged Graduates to instil the same values in their subordinates.
While at same event,Division Operations and Training Officer Colonel Santurino Mashereka Tumuranzye said; “this course has prepared the participants physically, mentally, emotionally take on on leadership responsibilities with Honour, Dignity and Integrity”.
The Training Course was a pre-requisite for all NCOs, covering essential aspects of battle readiness including, but not limited to drills, tactics, fieldwork, leadership and ideological orientation”.
Outstanding performers recorgnised included-Sgt Manyifu Isaac (overall best), L/Cpl Kyalisima Sarah (best female), Pte Logir Moses (best in drill), and Pte Ajoe Hamid (best in range exercise) among others
The training also forms part of the UPDF’s broader efforts to enhance human resource and equipment capabilities for greater operational effectiveness and efficiency.
The Pass-out Ceremony was attended by Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, and senior staff officers from Division Headquarters.
