UPDF Releases Shortlist for 2025 Recruitment; Physical Exercises Start August 5
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially released the shortlist of successful applicants for its nationwide 2025 recruitment exercise.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Defence Public Information, Major General Felix Kulayigye, the shortlist is now available on the official UPDF website and at District and Municipal headquarters across the country.
The next stage — the physical recruitment exercise — will run from August 5 to August 15, 2025, at designated district centers. Only candidates whose names appear on the official shortlist are allowed to participate.
“Only shortlisted candidates should report to the recruitment centers. The process is completely free of charge, and any form of corruption or forgery will not be tolerated,” Major General Kulayigye emphasized.
Applicants are cautioned that submitting forged academic or identification documents will lead to immediate disqualification and possible prosecution.
Requirements for Physical Recruitment
Candidates must present the following:
- Three recent passport-sized photographs
- An application letter endorsed by LC1, District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO)
- Original academic documents
Successful recruits will report to Kaweweta Basic Military Training School in Ngoma–Nakaseke District within three days to begin their initial training.
Major General Kulayigye noted that UPDF recruitment remains a competitive gateway into public service, offering young Ugandans opportunities for skills development, discipline, and long-term career growth.
“This recruitment presents a vital opportunity for our young people to contribute to national defence and development. We wish all candidates the very best,” he added.
The UPDF urged the public to remain vigilant and report any cases of fraud or impersonation. The force reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, patriotism, and professionalism in the recruitment process.
For complete details and continuous updates, candidates are encouraged to visit the official UPDF website or consult their nearest District headquarters.
