Tragedy on Mityana Road: Two Pupils from Star Junior School in Makindye Killed in Bus Overturn Accident
A sombre mood has engulfed Makindye and Mityana District after a tragic school bus accident claimed the lives of at least two pupils from Star Junior School, Makindye, and left several others injured on Sunday morning.
The bus, registration number UAP 829U and operated by HMK, was transporting pupils back to Kampala from an educational tour when the accident occurred along Mityana Road near Zigoti Town Council. According to preliminary reports, the vehicle veered off the road before overturning multiple times. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with some children thrown from the bus and others trapped in the wreckage. First responders — including police, medical personnel, and concerned residents — worked tirelessly to rescue survivors and rush the injured to Mityana General Hospital for treatment.
While medical teams are still assessing the condition of the survivors, police have launched a formal investigation into the incident. At the time of publication, no official statement had been released by authorities.
