Smart IoT Framework Promises Climate-Resilient Maize Farming in Uganda

Kampala, Uganda — Researchers have developed a smart Internet of Things (IoT) framework designed to improve climate-resilient maize farming in Uganda. The innovative system uses sensors and data analytics to optimize irrigation, monitor soil health, and increase crop yields.

Uganda’s smallholder maize farmers often face challenges from erratic weather patterns and resource limitations. The smart farming solution aims to help farmers adapt to climate change, reduce water waste, and boost productivity sustainably.

Pilot programs in Central Uganda have shown promising results, with participating farmers reporting improved crop health and reduced costs.

Experts believe widespread adoption of IoT technology could transform Uganda’s agricultural sector and enhance food security.
