Running for a Cause: Charity Marathon to Support Daughters of Charity Home
September 19, 2025
The Youth Apostles of St. Balikudembe, Kiwanga Parish in Mukono Municipality, are set to host a charity marathon on October 9th, 2025, under the inspiring theme: “Run for Daughters of Charity.” This community-driven event aims to mobilize support for the Daughters of Charity Home, a sanctuary for vulnerable individuals under the care of the Parish.
The marathon is more than just a race—it’s a movement of compassion. The objectives are two-fold:
- To extend a helping hand to the Daughters of Charity Home.
- To use the proceeds from the marathon to purchase essential items for the Home.
Organizers are appealing to government agencies, donors, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals to support the initiative—especially with financial assistance that will go a long way in improving the lives of the Home’s residents.
The event is inclusive and community-oriented, with running categories for both youth and the elderly. Each runner is required to contribute a modest UGX 15,000, which will directly support the cause.
To add a touch of excitement and motivation, winners in each category will receive prizes. The first-place runner will walk away with items such as a subwoofer and an electric kettle, while the third-place runner will be awarded a mattress—a practical and appreciated gift.
In a time when many face hardship, this marathon offers a platform for unity, fitness, and philanthropy. It’s a call to lace up your running shoes, not just for health—but for hope.
“Every step you run brings comfort to someone in need,” said Irene Nassanga-Executive Secretary, Kiwanga Youth Apostolate .
The countdown is on. Join the race. Be part of the change.
