Princess Komuntale Returns for Tooro’s Historic Coronation Jubilee
Tooro Kingdom’s Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale made a graceful return to Uganda on Tuesday evening, flying in from the United States ahead of her brother Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV’s 30th coronation anniversary.
The Batebe, or Princess Royal, was welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by relatives and members of the organising committee, marking the beginning of what promises to be a grand cultural celebration.
Her homecoming adds splendour to the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival, the signature event of the anniversary that will run from September 10–13, 2025, at Karukiza Palace. The festival will showcase Tooro’s rich heritage through traditional dance, music, art exhibitions, and a diverse spread of local cuisines.
King Oyo has extended an open invitation to his subjects and Ugandans at large, encouraging them to join in the milestone festivities. In his spirit of inclusivity, the palace gates will remain open to all who wish to celebrate three decades of his reign.
For Tooro Kingdom, Princess Komuntale’s arrival not only strengthens family bonds but also signals the cultural pride and unity that the anniversary seeks to highlight.
