President Museveni Warns NRM Delegates Against Election Malpractices and Corruption

The NRM Party Chairman who also doubles as the President of Uganda while addressing the Central Executive Committee of the NRM Party members ahead of the National Delegates Conference at State House Entebbe Saturday cautioned Party Members and Contestants against use of money in politics.

The party Chairman said, the use of money in politics is a dangerous vice that threaten the Country’s future and undermine Accountability.

Museveni stated that “rather than bribing voters during elections, Leaders should work for their people to earn their support”.

“Money is poison. When leaders are elected through bribery or cheating, they become unaccountable to the public,”he added.

“He remarked that such tendencies caused Wars in the past, and we cannot afford to allow it happen again.

The president noted that both the Party Organs and Government would not hesitate to prosecute perpetrators of Electoral Malpractice, recognizing that leadership must come through persuasion and good example, not coercion or bribery. The NRM National Delegates Conference is slated for 27-28th August.25 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds Kampala
