Police Dismiss Claims of Shielding Full Figure, Probe Assault by Nameere Couple

The Uganda Police Force has rejected allegations that presidential advisor and media personality Jennifer Nakangubi, popularly known as Full Figure, enjoys protection from prosecution, even as she recovers in hospital after a violent public attack.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke on Monday urged the public to follow lawful procedures if they have grievances against her. “If you feel that she wronged you, act like her: go to the police station and report. If an officer refuses to take your case, escalate it up to the IGP,” he said.

Full Figure’s case stems from an incident along Kyadondo Road last week, where she was allegedly assaulted by Masaka City Woman MP aspirant and NRM flagbearer Justine Nameere together with her husband. Police say the couple also robbed her of Shs500,000 and a mobile phone.

A video clip that circulated widely online shows a man in NRM campaign attire punching and kicking Full Figure to the cheers of bystanders. Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed it has registered the complaint, visited the scene, and recorded statements from witnesses, while a manhunt for the suspects is underway.

The attack has stirred sharp debate. Colleagues such as co-host Charles James Ssenkubuge condemned the violence, saying: “For all her mistakes, she did not deserve that treatment. Two wrongs don’t make a right.” But events promoter Abby Musinguzi defended the mob-style retaliation, arguing it was the result of unchecked impunity: “If the police and the law could not rein in Full Figure, let the people carry the law into their own hands.”

Responding to such sentiments, Rusoke insisted that Full Figure has no special immunity. “She is not above the law. Any credible case against her will be investigated like any other,” he stated, adding that transparency and accountability will guide the ongoing probe into the assault and robbery.
