One person has died and several others sustained injuries following a road crash that occurred along the Kasese–Mbarara Road at Kyababinga Trading Centre in Kasese Municipality on Friday afternoon.
The accident, which happened on 15th August 2025 at around 1:00 PM, involved a maroon Toyota Wish, registration number UBE 795T, that was traveling from Kasese town heading towards Bwera.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and rolled several times before coming to a stop. The victims, whose identities remain unknown, were rushed to different health centres within Kasese Municipality for medical attention.
This incident comes barely a day after another fatal accident in Kasese claimed the lives of Mbusa David Remigius and a Senior One student, Maate Mathias, who were traveling from Ntungamo to Kasese District. Several others were also left critically injured in that crash.
Police in the Rwenzori East region have since cautioned road users to exercise vigilance, especially during the school holiday season.
“As schools close, we call upon drivers, motorists, and pedestrians to strictly observe road safety regulations as provided for by the law. Failure to do so may result in arrests and prosecution in courts of law,” said SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson.
