NRM Mobilization Drive in Mukono: Leaders Call for Unity Behind Museveni

Leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) have appealed to Ugandans to strengthen grassroots mobilization for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the party in preparation for the 2026 general elections.

The call was made during the Buganda Ku Museveni mobilization rally held on Sunday, September 7, at Kiyunga Muslims Primary School playgrounds in Kyampisi Sub-county, Mukono District.

The event was led by newly elected NRM Vice Chairperson for Central Region and State Minister for Microfinance, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, together with Energy Minister Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, who officiated as chief guest.

Highlighting the impact of government poverty alleviation and empowerment programs, Kasolo urged the people to continue working with the ruling party.
“For these programs to reach every home, every village, and every parish, you must trust and vote for NRM leaders who will work hand in hand with President Museveni to deliver services,” he said.

Hon. Nankabirwa reassured residents of the government’s commitment to extending electricity to rural communities. She cited ongoing electrification works in Nagwejje and Seeta-Mpunge and cautioned locals to be wary of “political opportunists” who mislead voters.

Mukono NRM District Chairperson, Hajji Haruna Ssemakula, praised the achievements of government initiatives in the area, noting that women alone had received UGX 1.5 billion through the Uganda Women Empowerment Programme (UWEP) and UGX 22.63 billion under the Parish Development Model (PDM).

He also raised concerns about power shortages in Mpunge Sub-county, appealing for urgent solutions.

District Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kyeswa Hakim, criticized opposition leaders for failing to address service delivery challenges.

“People in Mukono did not abandon President Museveni; they were only diverted by small issues. As leaders, we must fix those gaps,” he said, rallying the masses to rally behind the NRM and reject opposition leadership.

The rally attracted several prominent NRM leaders and flag bearers, including Eng. Robert Kafeero Ssekitooleko, Hon. Margret Nakavubu, Hon. Kintu Tadeo, Hon. Ronald Kibuule, Hon. Daisy Sonko, Francis Mukoome Lukooya, Hon. Robert Migadde Ndugwa, Hon. Kirabo Agnes Nantongo, Hon. Dr. Michael Bukenya Yiga, and Hon. Enos Asiimwe.
