During my recent visit, I was warmly received by Tracy Ainembabazi, a passionate Marketing Associate at the Centre, whose enthusiasm reflects the soul of Ndere itself. “At Ndere, every drumbeat tells a story, every dance step carries our history,” she shared. “We want every visitor to experience Uganda not just through words, but through music, movement, and connection.”
A Symphony of Culture and Art
Three evenings a week, the Ndere Troupe transforms the open-air amphitheatre into a spectacle of energy and emotion. Performers adorned in vibrant traditional attire dance to the beats of handmade drums and indigenous instruments, narrating stories of courtship, harvest, love, and triumph from Uganda’s 56 tribes.
“The beauty of Uganda is in our diversity,” Tracy explained. “Each tribe has its unique rhythm and story — but when we perform together, we show how our differences make us stronger as one people.”
For many visitors, these performances are a revelation — a joyful rediscovery of what makes Uganda truly special.
More Than a Show: A Destination
