Museveni Urges NRM in Bugisu to Guard Against Opposition Misinformation, Vows More Industrial Growth

Mbale,Uganda

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni addressed over 17,000 National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in the Bugisu sub-region this weekend, urging them to remain vigilant against what he called “lies and distortions” spread by opposition politicians.

Speaking at a rally in Mbale on November 16, 2025, Museveni emphasized that the NRM’s economic transformation agenda—centered on wealth creation, industrialization, and value addition—is being misunderstood by some political opponents. According to him, the opposition prioritizes salaries and allowances instead of long-term strategic investments.

He lauded progress in Uganda’s industrial sector: the Sino-Mbale Industrial Park now hosts 75 factories employing 12,000 people, while the Namanve Industrial Park has grown to 273 factories with 44,000 workers. Museveni also highlighted achievements in Uganda’s pharmaceutical and automobile industries, noting that assembly plants in Jinja and other areas are increasing the country’s manufacturing capacity.

On national development, the president reiterated his call for Ugandans to fully participate in the money economy, arguing that infrastructure alone is not enough; individuals and families need to create wealth through commercial agriculture, ICT, and service sectors.

Museveni warned that both internal and external threats could derail Uganda’s progress, and he urged Unity among NRM cadres to safeguard the gains of peace and stability. He framed the rally as part of broader preparations ahead of the 2026 elections, flagging the importance of messaging and economic development as central to his party’s strategy.
