Museveni Meets NRM Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, Urges Leaders to Defend People’s Interests

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a meeting with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Buganda Parliamentary Caucus at State House, Entebbe, where a wide range of developmental issues was discussed.

The President guided the MPs on strengthening service delivery and ensuring development both in Buganda and across Uganda.

“You, the new leaders, need to defend the legitimate interests of the people of Uganda and Buganda because Buganda is the major beneficiary of the NRM revolution and anybody who does not see that is an enemy of Buganda,” President Museveni told the caucus.

He emphasized that the peace ushered in by the NRM government has enabled tremendous progress in Buganda and the country, citing improved infrastructure, industries, and other development milestones.

The President further commended the MPs from Buganda for their efforts in sensitizing communities and monitoring government programs, but urged them to now focus more on improving household incomes.

“Strategically Buganda is the direct beneficiary of NRM so if all the people get involved in creating wealth, Uganda will be the most developed country in the world,” he said.

Museveni also pointed out land fragmentation as one of the biggest obstacles to sustainable growth in Buganda and Uganda as a whole.

During the meeting, Hon. Migadde Robert Ndugwa, Chairperson of the NRM Buganda Parliamentary Group and MP for Buvuma County, presented the group’s Memorandum of Understanding.

He thanked President Museveni for his exceptional leadership, noting that the caucus has been actively engaging communities at constituency level to respond to concerns and track government projects.

Hon. Rose Namayanja, the NRM Deputy Secretary General, also expressed gratitude to the President for his guidance. She applauded the caucus for their unity and commitment and encouraged them to continue working diligently for the people while consolidating the NRM’s success in the region.
