Kajjansi Police Arrest Two in Cattle Theft Case, Recover Stolen Cow

Police in Kajjansi Division have arrested two suspects in connection with cattle theft, following an operation conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

The suspects have been identified as Kiberu Muzafaru, 25, a caretaker, and Katto Jimmy, 48, a resident of Kitende. A black cow was recovered tied inside a gate at Canan Estate, Kitende B Cell. Police also seized two blue tapelines bearing blood stains and cow dung, believed to have been used during the crime.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, the arrests were made after security received a tip-off that unknown men were transporting cows in a blue Ipsum vehicle with an unidentified number plate into Canan Estate for slaughter. The meat was allegedly being distributed using motorcycles.

“With the help of the LC1 chairman of Kitende B, our officers apprehended the suspects and documented the scene,” Onyango said.

He added that investigations are ongoing to arrest another suspect, only identified as Peter, who is accused of transporting stolen cattle from the Masaka area.

The recovered exhibits are in police custody as inquiries continue.
