Kadaga, “Defeat Won’t Shake My Loyalty to NRM and Uganda”

Former Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has vowed to remain steadfast in her service to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the people of Uganda despite falling short in the recent elections for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female).

In her first public statement since the elections, Kadaga thanked delegates and supporters who stood by her during what she described as a stormy and challenging campaign.

“To the delegates at the National Conference who endured the stormy days and sleepless nights in the course of this journey, I salute you with utmost respect. Your resilience and commitment will forever remain an inspiration,” she said.

Kadaga, who has been a senior figure in the NRM since its founding, paid special tribute to grassroots supporters who campaigned for her even under intimidation.

“Special thanks go to the gallant men and women who raised my posters amidst numerous challenges and threats. In you, I saw the true spirit of courage, sacrifice and loyalty,” she noted.

While acknowledging her loss to Speaker of Parliament Anita Among—who garnered 11,680 votes against her 902—Kadaga insisted her commitment to the party and the nation is unbroken.

“Above all, I thank the people of Uganda for continuously entrusting me with the privilege to serve you. I re-affirm my commitment to continue striving for our values and aspirations,” she declared.

She also extended congratulations to all NRM candidates who emerged victorious, pledging to continue contributing to the growth of the ruling party.

Kadaga’s message reflects both humility and determination, suggesting that despite electoral setbacks, she intends to maintain an active role in shaping the future of the NRM and the country at large.
