Innovation Hub Expo 2025 Kicks Off at Nakawa ICT Institute
Kampala, Uganda – The much-anticipated Innovation Hub Expo 2025 is underway at the Nakawa Institute of Communication and Technology (NICT), bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry stakeholders for a showcase of creativity and technology-driven solutions shaping Uganda’s future.
The event, hosted in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and the National Communications Conference (NCC), has transformed the Nakawa campus into a vibrant hub of ideas. From cutting-edge startups to academic innovations, the Expo is a platform for showcasing Uganda’s capacity to harness digital tools for socio-economic transformation.

High-Level Participation
The Expo opened with keynote remarks from senior officials in the ICT sector, emphasizing the role of digital innovation in creating jobs, driving investment, and positioning Uganda as a regional leader in technology adoption. Government representatives underscored their commitment to supporting young innovators through policy frameworks, funding, and infrastructure.
Among the highlights was a presentation on the National Communications Conference (NCC 2025), where panelists discussed emerging technologies, digital literacy, and the future of connectivity. With stakeholders ranging from mobile network operators, tech hubs, academia, and international partners, the discussions underscored collaboration as the key to a thriving innovation ecosystem.
Innovation on Display
Exhibitors at the Expo are showcasing a wide range of solutions — from fintech applications and e-commerce platforms to agritech tools designed to empower farmers and edtech platforms reshaping learning. Students and startups are demonstrating prototypes that could revolutionize healthcare, transportation, and financial inclusion in Uganda.
One of the most notable aspects is the practical nature of many projects. Innovators are not just presenting ideas but offering real-world solutions to everyday challenges faced by communities. The emphasis on local relevance, affordability, and scalability has been a recurring theme across exhibition stalls.
Networking and Opportunities
The Expo is not just about exhibitions. It also serves as a networking platform where innovators connect with potential investors, mentors, and policymakers. Panels and breakout sessions have tackled issues like digital regulation, innovation financing, data security, and women in technology.
Corporate partners, including leading telecoms such as Lyca Mobile, are also present, engaging directly with young entrepreneurs and exploring potential collaborations.
Building Uganda’s Digital Future
The Innovation Hub Expo reflects Uganda’s growing determination to nurture a digital economy. As noted by speakers, events like this are crucial in bridging the gap between ideas and implementation, ensuring that innovation drives inclusive growth.
The Expo will run for two days, with scheduled product launches, live demonstrations, and award sessions recognizing the most impactful innovations.
