Gen. Muhoozi, UCC Boss Move to Bolster Security of Uganda’s Communications Infrastructure
Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has met with Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director Nyombi Thembo to explore new strategies for safeguarding the nation’s communications infrastructure.
The talks, held at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe, brought together UCC’s technical experts and senior security officers for an in-depth review of risks facing the country’s fast-growing communications sector.
According to officials, the meeting centered on strengthening resilience in telecommunications, data networks, broadcasting, and other digital systems critical to national security and development.
Mr. Nyombi briefed Gen. Muhoozi — who also doubles as the Senior Presidential Adviser on Special Operations — on UCC’s ongoing projects and potential areas of cooperation with security forces.
The UCC delegation included specialists from across its technical departments, reflecting the commission’s broad regulatory mandate, which spans postal services, telecommunications, radio communications, data transmission, and the licensing of cinematography.
Both UCC and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) agreed to deepen collaboration to ensure Ugandans benefit from secure, reliable, and modern communications in line with the country’s security and development priorities.
