Gen Muhoozi, Russian Envoy Hold Talks to Bolster Defence and Diplomatic Ties
Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has met with the Russian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Vladlen Semivolos, in a move aimed at reinforcing military and diplomatic cooperation between Kampala and Moscow.
The meeting took place on Monday at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe, where the two officials reviewed ongoing areas of collaboration and explored opportunities for broader engagement.
Gen Kainerugaba, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, lauded Russia’s enduring support for Africa, noting its role in backing the continent’s liberation movements.
He further praised Moscow’s approach to international partnerships, describing it as respectful and mutually beneficial.
Ambassador Semivolos expressed satisfaction with the current state of military and technical cooperation, voicing confidence that Uganda–Russia relations would continue to strengthen in the years ahead.
Monday’s engagement builds on a series of recent high-level interactions, including Gen Kainerugaba’s official visit to Moscow in May.
It also reflects the long-standing defence and diplomatic ties that have linked the two countries for decades.
