France and Britain Push UN Force for Gaza; Indonesia Offers 20,000 Troops.

European powers and Asian allies discuss a U.N.-mandated stabilization mission amid a fragile Gaza ceasefire.

France and the United Kingdom are refining a United Nations Security Council resolution that could authorize an international force to stabilize Gaza following months of conflict.

Diplomatic sources say Indonesia has offered to contribute up to 20,000 peacekeepers, provided the operation carries a full U.N. mandate. The draft proposal includes humanitarian corridors, demilitarized zones, and reconstruction oversight.

“Our priority is the protection of civilians,” said French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné. “Only a credible international presence can ensure lasting peace.”

While Western governments support the initiative, Israel has expressed reservations, and some Arab states prefer regional coordination over Western-led oversight.

Analysts view the effort as a test of post-conflict diplomacy and Europe’s ability to lead multilateral responses after years of waning influence.
