Equity Bank Stimulate Business Growth in Fort Portal City.

The Tupange Business Ne Equity a recent Initiative that Equity Bank is fronting in a bid to stimulate business all over the country has been beefed up at Nyaika Hotel in FortPortal tourism city.

In his welcoming remarks,the Equity Bank’s Branch Manager FortPortal – Felix Babeiha said, “At Equity Bank, we value each and every customer and are committed to giving them dignity in whatever aspect of life they do business and deserve”.

“We are privileged to serve over two million customers in Uganda,this event is our way of giving back and appreciating your trust in us.”

Olivia Mugaba, Head of SMEs at Equity Bank Uganda highlighted, “SMEs are the heartbeat of economies- driving transformation in Uganda and across the globe. With 90% of businesses and over half the workforce powered by SMEs, you truly keep the world running.”

“SMEs are job creators- 7 out of every 10 new jobs come from you. Yet in Uganda, 53 out of 100 SMEs struggle to survive in first three years. Together, we must support and strengthen this backbone of our economy.”

“Business success depends on connection, quality and collaboration. Money and customers alone aren’t enough- excellence is what keeps people coming back.”

In his speech, Wanok – Head of Retail- Corporate Banking at Equity Bank Uganda highlighted:

The bank has carried out an internal clean-up and accountability exercise to improve service delivery, based on customer feedback.

Founded 41 years ago by farmers in Kenya, Equity Bank is guided by values of dignity, trust, and inclusivity, ensuring everyone can access banking easily (no minimum balances, no monthly charges).

Equity Bank operates 50 branches in Uganda, serving 2.1 million customers, making it the second-largest bank by accounts in the country.

Equity is now present in 7 African countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, South Sudan) with a representative office in Ethiopia, and recently opened in Dubai to support SME trade.

By 2030, Equity plans to expand into 14 more countries in West and Southern Africa, strengthening trade and socio-economic transformation across the continent.

Equity Bank Uganda has awarded the Bishop of Rwenzori Diocese, Bishop Reuben Kisembo- the SME Business Influencer Award at the Tupange Business Ne Equity- Initiative at Nyaika Hotel FortPortal.
