Emmanuel Andama Wins Kyambogo University Guild Presidency on NUP Ticket
Kyambogo University has elected Emmanuel Andama of the National Unity Platform (NUP) as its 21st Guild President, in a decisive victory that further consolidates the party’s grip on student politics.
Andama secured 2,391 votes against his main challenger, Tonney Bwette, who managed 1,333 votes.
The election followed the expulsion of former guild president Akiso Benjamin, who also serves as NUP’s Head of Institutions, leaving the top student leadership seat vacant.
Moments after the results were declared, the NUP leadership celebrated Andama’s success, framing it as proof of the resilience of their cause.
“Congratulations comrade Andama Emmanuel on your election as the 21st guild President of Kyambogo University. Your victory is a clear manifestation that the struggle cannot be silenced!,” read a post on the party’s official X account.
With this win, NUP not only reclaims its dominance at Kyambogo but also underscores its strong appeal among the youth, whom it has positioned as central players in Uganda’s political future.
