Eight Suspects Nabbed Over UGX 242 Million Give and Take Hardware Robbery
Police have arrested eight people in connection with the August 22, 2025, robbery of UGX 242 million from Give and Take Hardware in Rubaga Division.
The incident occurred at Kakeeka Zone when armed men on five motorcycles intercepted the company’s accountant, Ausi Kisitu, as he transported cash to the bank. He and his rider escaped unhurt.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the arrests followed fast-paced intelligence operations.
“We reassure the public that such violent crimes will be pursued to their full conclusion, and we commend our officers for the dedicated work that has already yielded results,” he said.
Those charged include Steven Bakunda alias Kevin, Robert Atwine Kiiza alias Mzee Lubuto, Brian Andebuni alias Junior Black, Raymond Musuza alias Caesar, Andrew Ssali alias Ande Swag, Stankey Kanyerezi, Andrew Nsubuga, and Aboth Shivan Alecho, accused as an accessory.
Police recovered UGX 105 million, a motorcycle allegedly bought with the loot, and a black laptop bag with vouchers and receipts identified by the victim.
The suspects face charges of aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and being accessories after the fact. ASP Owoyesigyire said more accomplices are being hunted.
All eight are expected to appear before Mwanga II Chief Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, September 11, 2025.
