Digital Creators Summit Launched in Kampala to Boost Youth Content Economy

Kampala, Uganda

A new national initiative to support young content creators and media entrepreneurs kicked off in Kampala yesterday as Stanbic Bank Uganda, together with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Ongea Africa and Uganda Digital Society launched the Stanbic Ongea Digital Creators Summit 2025. The summit, slated for December 11 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, aims to equip young content creators with digital skills, financial literacy, responsible content practices, and business tools.

Organizers emphasized the critical role of youth and women in Uganda’s social and economic transformation. During the media launch, Stanbic’s marketing and brand manager said content creation is no longer just expression — but a practical avenue for income generation and entrepreneurship.

The upcoming summit will include training workshops, networking sessions, mentorship opportunities, and sessions on monetization, compliance with digital regulations, and building sustainable content businesses. Stakeholders hope this will strengthen Uganda’s creative and digital economy and open new livelihoods, especially for urban youth.

Why it matters
As digital connectivity grows and the creator economy expands globally, Uganda’s youth stand to benefit — not just socially but economically. Empowering young creators can boost innovation, job creation, cultural expression and diversify income streams beyond traditional sectors.
