BABASA Counsels Freshers Bringing New Energy to Makerere University

The Basamia Bagwe Students Association (BABASA) an Association of students studying at Makerere University but coming from a region occupied by Basamia group of people Eastern Uganda held a grand inauguration Ceremony on Thursday 21, August 2025 for fresh Students marking a new chapter in their campus life. The Association led by their Chairperson, Juma Evans Wandera and his Vice Mudangi Vivian, said, the event was a resounding success.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome, followed by introductions to the vibrant culture of the university. The BABASA leadership took center stage, guiding the new students through an orientation program designed to acquaint them with the institution’s rich heritage and expectations.

During the orientation, the students were apprised of the university’s academic standards, extracurricular activities, and the importance of discipline and responsibility. The BABASA doubledown the need for unity, teamwork and mutual respect among students, highlighting the association’s role in fostering a sense of community and belonging.

The freshmen were seen visibly excited about their new journey, eager to explore the university’s facilities, engage with their peers, and embark on a path of academic excellence. The leadership assured them of support and guidance throughout their stay at Makerere University.

The Inauguration ceremony also underscored the significance of student Associations in promoting leadership, camaraderie and Personal Growth. As the freshmen begin their Academic Journey, they’re now optimistic of a responsive community that encourages collaboration, innovation, and mutual support.

The student’s Association is dedication to promoting the Welfare and Interests of Basamia Bagwe students at Makerere University.

As the new academic year unfolds, the university community looks forward to witnessing the growth and development of these freshmen and supported by both the BABASA leadership and the institution’s faculty.
