UTAMU Celebrates a Decade of Excellence – Holds 10th Graduation Ceremony at Kungu Campus

Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) marked a major institutional milestone on Friday 21th November 2025 as it held its 10th Graduation Ceremony at the Kungu Campus in Gombe, Nansana, Wakiso District. Students, parents, faculty, alumni and invited leaders filled the grounds to celebrate ten years of learning, innovation and community impact.

The event opened with the procession of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, University Council, faculty deans and student leaders, followed by the national and East African anthems. Graduates from schools of Business, Computing, Engineering, Humanities, Education and Law took the stage to receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates.

In his keynote address, the Chancellor,Dr. Patrick Bitature, urged graduates to embrace curiosity and competence in equal measure.
“A decade of UTAMU’s existence is not just a marker of time; it is a testament to our belief that education must evolve with society,” she said. “You step into a world hungry for thinkers who can question, build and lead. Carry that hunger with you.”

The Vice Chancellor, Anny Katabaazi, reflected on the university’s trajectory, emphasising UTAMU’s role in bridging technology and management.
“Our graduates are not merely walking away with degrees,” she noted. “They are walking into industries that need their agility, creativity and ethical grounding.”

Parents and guardians cheered as graduates crossed the stage. For many, the moment represented years of sacrifice and perseverance.

One graduating student, Priscilla Namusoke (Bachelor of Science in Computer Security & Forensics), captured the atmosphere succinctly:
“UTAMU taught me that innovation isn’t some distant dream. It’s daily discipline, teamwork and resilience. I’m excited to take that mindset into the cybersecurity world.”

Another, Kato Samuel (Master of Business Administration), celebrated the university’s hands-on teaching model.
“The projects, mentorships and industry links shaped my confidence,” he shared. “This wasn’t just academics—it was preparation for real leadership.”

A parent, Mrs. Robina Ayebale, added a heartfelt note:
“Watching my son graduate today is watching a dream grow legs. UTAMU gave him more than knowledge—it gave him direction.”

After the formal proceedings, photo sessions and a reception followed, allowing graduates and families to celebrate alongside faculty and alumni.

Why It Matters

The 10th graduation is UTAMU’s clearest sign of institutional consolidation—ten years of producing graduates who feed directly into Uganda’s shifting economic landscape. The university’s blend of technology, management and innovation positions it to influence sectors ranging from fintech to public administration.

The expansion of the Kungu Campus strengthens UTAMU’s push to decentralise access to higher education and widen participation in the fast-growing Wakiso corridor.

What to Watch

UTAMU’s next decade will likely revolve around strengthening research output, forging deeper ties with industry, expanding digital-learning infrastructure and mobilising its growing alumni network. The Class of 2025 enters the workforce at a time when Uganda’s tech-driven sectors are rapidly developing, making their transition worth observing.
