About the institute
The YWCA Vocational Training Institute is located on George Street, Kampala (Plot 1/3, P.O. Box 2108) and is listed among recognized tertiary and vocational institutions in Uganda. The Institute has a long history of offering short, practical courses and longer diploma options that target women and youth empowerment through marketable skills. Contact lines and institutional details are available through its public listings.
Significance
Graduations at YWCA’s institute are widely seen as important milestones for skills-based education in Kampala. The large majority of female graduands underlines the institute’s role in targeting women’s economic empowerment — particularly important in sectors such as cosmetology, tailoring, hospitality and small-business management where graduates can quickly translate training into income. The institute’s mix of short certificates and longer diplomas is intended to give both fast-entry options and deeper technical competence.

Remarks and next steps
Today’s ceremony — presided over by Justice Esta Nambayo — included conferral of diploma and certificate parchments and celebrations of individual and group achievements. Organisers encouraged graduates to pursue entrepreneurship, formal employment and continued learning; they also urged the private sector to tap the new talent for apprenticeships and hiring. (Presiding officer name and ceremony details were provided by the institute’s organisers.)
Graduates were also advised on registration routes, further training pathways and how to access business incubation and microfinance opportunities available through community and NGO partners.
