Uganda Selected to Host the 2026 Digital Government Africa Summit
Kampala, Uganda.
In a significant milestone for Uganda’s digital transformation, the country has been chosen to host the 4th Edition of the Digital Government Africa (DGA) Summit in 2026. The announcement was made during the current summit in Lusaka, Zambia, with the National Information Technology Authority‑Uganda (NITA-U) confirming that this will firmly position Uganda at the centre of the continent’s digital governance agenda.
Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, Executive Director of NITA-U, described the selection as “a milestone achievement … an opportunity to showcase how infrastructure, interoperability and innovation are powering inclusive growth.” The event will bring together ministers, digital policy makers, private sector tech innovators, and government service providers from across Africa.

Uganda’s hosting of this summit signals several implications:
Strengthening Uganda’s reputation as a regional digital hub and increasing foreign tech/investment interest.
Accelerating government-digital initiatives—such as citizen services, e-identity infrastructure, open data, and e-payments.
Provides a platform to share Uganda’s experiences ↔ learn from other African nations about best practices in digital governance.
