Uganda and Somalia Ink New Cooperation Deals in Kampala

 Security, education, and immigration top the agenda as both nations reaffirm East African unity.

Uganda and Somalia signed three new Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in Kampala this week, strengthening cooperation on security, education, and immigration management.

The agreements were inked during the Uganda–Somalia Joint Permanent Commission meetings, which also included the Business & Investment Forum, signaling growing bilateral confidence between Kampala and Mogadishu.

Officials said the MOUs will enable intelligence sharing on counter-terrorism, promote student exchanges, and streamline border documentation.“This partnership is about shared growth and safety,” said Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. “Our countries are connected by history and future opportunity.”
