President Museveni Promises Wealth Creation, Education reforms & Fisheries Boost in Lango

AMOLATAR / DOKOLO, Uganda — In his continuing campaign through the Lango sub‑region, President Yoweri Museveni made a series of pledges in Amolatar and Dokolo, focusing on wealth creation, education, fisheries, and infrastructure.

At rallies, Museveni outlined the government’s journey over four decades, tying national development to programs like Operation Wealth Creation. He called on Ugandans to engage in agriculture, fishing, and other income-generating activities, arguing that relying solely on formal employment is unrealistic.

On education, he pledged to address school charges and strengthen skilling hubs across the region. To combat theft in public health facilities, he vowed to establish a “spy network” to catch officials misappropriating drugs or funds.

In fisheries, he announced support for fish farming and wetlands utilization, citing successful ventures in Limoto that earned tens of millions of shillings. He also committed to constructing road projects, including Lango–Namasale and Lira–Barlege.

Museveni’s campaign in Lango is part of a broader push: to solidify support in northern Uganda ahead of the 2026 elections. He called on local leaders and communities to protect development gains and help Uganda attain high middle income status.
