KCCA Donates to Babies’ Homes Ahead of Kampala City Festival
Kampala, Uganda
As the countdown to the Kampala City Festival 2025 begins, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) staff have taken the festivities beyond music and fireworks by donating essential supplies to babies’ homes and remand institutions in the city.
On Tuesday, KCCA teams delivered mattresses, clothes, foodstuffs, diapers, soap, and other basic items to institutions including Sanyu Babies’ Home and Naguru Remand Home. The gesture was meant to underscore the city’s responsibility toward its most vulnerable residents, officials said.
KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Buzaki noted that the donations are in line with the festival’s 2025 theme — “Innovation, Culture, and Sustainability” — which also aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for inclusive cities.
“A festival is not just about entertainment,” Hajjat Shariffa Buzaki said. “It’s about who we are as a city. We want Kampala to celebrate its culture while remembering those who need us most.”
The Kampala City Festival 2025 will be held on October 5 at Kololo Independence Grounds. Organizers promise a day of music, dance, street food, art showcases, and exhibitions under tighter security and with a focus on innovation.
For many residents, however, this early act of giving may prove more impactful than the lights and fanfare. Beneficiaries at the homes said the supplies will ease daily struggles and make children feel remembered.
