33 Suspects Arrested in Kira Police Division Night Operation
Kira Police Division has arrested 33 suspects in a targeted operation against criminality carried out on the night of September 16, 2025.
The intelligence-led sweep, which began at 9:00 pm, focused on crime-prone areas of Mbalwa, Kakajjo (Koboko Zone), and Kireku.
According to police, the operation was aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and curbing the use of narcotic substances.
A total of 13 suspects were arrested from Mbalwa, while 20 others were picked up from Kakajjo and Kireku. Exhibits of opium were recovered and exhibited as evidence.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrests and stressed the importance of such intelligence-driven deployments.
βThe suspects were found in possession of narcotic substances. These targeted operations are part of our ongoing strategy to deal with crime hotspots, and we shall continue until order is restored,β Onyango said.
Police noted that the operation was carefully mapped, with officers briefed on professionalism before deployment.
Authorities say similar operations will be sustained to curb rising criminality in Kira and other divisions.
