Mbale City Mayor Cassim Namugali Seeks Re-Election .

Mbale City Mayor Cassim Namugali,an FDC stalwart has been cleared by the Electoral Commission to run in the upcoming 2026 general elections.This comes as the Electoral Commission launched a nationwide nomination exercise for candidates seeking to participate in Local Government Elections.
Namugali,who aligned to the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party spoke to The Urban Gazette shortly after the EC had cleared him.He expressed appreciation and pledged to continue his leadership career to develop the City and deliver services to Communities once re-elected.
In an exclusive interview with The Urban Gazette reporter -he boasted off having scored highly in keeping the city clean during his first tenure. He Continued-when we came in, there were heaps of garbage everywhere, but we have managed to collect and maintain cleanliness,” Namugali said.
Namugali added that his administration has stood firm against land grabbers and mismanagement of public land.
“The people of Mbale know where this town has come from. Many had sold off government land, but we have reclaimed and protected it,” he noted.
Namugali thanked residents for their support and appealed to them to re-elect him so he can build on the progress he made.
“We lost two years to COVID, but in the remaining two years we achieved a lot, ranging from schools to road infrastructure. Because of our performance, the World Bank has returned and is going to fund 14 kilometers of new roads in Namatala, Nauyo, Kampala Road, Indian Quarters, and other areas,” said the Mayor.
The Mayor also revealed his administration purchased a new grader using local revenue without government funding and set aside funds to purchase a roller for further Road Maintenance.
Namugali urged everyone to waste no votes,instead vote him to move the city forward as we continue giving service delivery.
