Police SIU Chief Musa Walugembe Found Dead at Home
The Uganda Police Force has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of Afande Musa Walugembe, a senior officer attached to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
His passing was announced on Wednesday morning by the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, who shared the news in a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter).
“It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt grief that I announce the passing of our patriotic and dedicated @PoliceUg officer, Afande Musa Walugembe, who was serving with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Afande Walugembe passed away peacefully in his sleep, cause of death unknown,” Balaam wrote.
In his tribute, the minister praised Walugembe for his character and integrity: “A man of unwavering integrity, Musa was known for his kindness, humility, and trustworthiness throughout his service.”
He also revealed that the late officer was a prince of Buganda from Nakifuma.
“As a government and as a nation, we mourn the loss of a true servant of the people. Uganda has lost a brave soul who served with honour and dedication. His legacy of loyalty and service to Uganda will forever be remembered,” Balaam added.
The Police are yet to release an official statement, but tributes continue to pour in for the late officer, whose unexpected death has left colleagues and the country at large in shock.
