Morocco to Face Madagascar in CHAN 2024 Final on Saturday

Morocco will battle Madagascar in the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 final this Saturday at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Atlas Lions secured their spot after edging defending champions Senegal 4-3 on penalties in a dramatic semifinal at Mandela National Stadium.
The match had ended 1-1 after extra time before Morocco held their nerve in the shootout to reach the final.
Their opponents, Madagascar, sealed a historic place in the final after defeating hosts Sudan in the other semifinal, marking their first-ever appearance in a CHAN final.
Morocco, winners of the 2018 and 2021 editions, are now eyeing a record third crown, while Madagascar will be chasing glory in their maiden final.
The showdown at Kasarani is expected to draw thousands of fans from across the continent as both sides look to etch their names in CHAN history.
The Special Forces Command (SFC) has flagged off it’s Rangers and football team to participate in the 17th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Cup Tournament, scheduled for 26th Aug to 5th Sept 2025 in Masaka.
The competition, hosted at Masaka Secondary School playground and other nearby playgrounds, will feature over 20 teams from various Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) services, competing in football, netball, range shooting, tree planting, and other activities.
While officiating at the flag-off ceremony held at VVIPTS-Sera Kasenyi, SFC Commander Maj. Gen. David Mugisha urged participants to uphold discipline, both on and off the field.
He reminded the Rangers and footballers of SFC’s strong record in past tournaments and encouraged them to work hard to meet their expectations.
Brig. Gen. J.B. Asinguza, Commander 1 Special Forces Group, also challenged the teams to approach the tournament with professionalism, unity, and courage, stressing that SFC is expected to set an example for other competing forces.
