Kampala, Uganda – August 20, 2025

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, on behalf of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has launched a report highlighting the cost and extent of corruption in recruitment processes by District Service Commissions.

The launch was held on August 20, 2025, at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

According to the study, more than 35% of public service workers obtained their jobs through bribery. This raises concerns that a significant number of employees may lack the required qualifications for their positions.

The report also revealed that applicants pay bribes starting from UGX 3 million for lower-level public service jobs and up to UGX 40 million or more for senior district positions.

President Museveni, through the Prime Minister, urged all stakeholders to use the report’s findings to push for reforms aimed at safeguarding the integrity of Uganda’s recruitment system.
