Police Dispel Kidnap Reports, Confirm Fraud Charges Against NUP’s Settumba

Police at Kabalagala are holding Ssetuba Derrick on allegations of obtaining money by false pretenses from Namara Omuhereza, amounting to UGX 8 million.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said the arrest was carried out lawfully, dismissing social media reports claiming the suspect had been abducted.

“Contrary to social media reports that the suspect was abducted, he was lawfully arrested and is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station,” Owoyesigyire stated.

Following his arrest, two more alleged victims have stepped forward with similar complaints against Ssetuba.

“The allegations against him will be diligently investigated, and the case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Resident State Attorney for perusal and advice,” Owoyesigyire added.
