Among Vows to Inject Fresh Energy into NRM as She Courts Busoga Support

Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has promised to inject “new things” into the National Resistance Movement’s mobilisation strategy and forge a stronger bond between the party and Parliament, as she intensifies her campaign for the position of NRM Second Vice Chairperson (Female) on the Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Addressing NRM delegates from across Busoga at her Nalina LC1 home in Kagulu Sub-county, Buyende District, Among said her mission is to reinforce grassroots party structures and energise the movement from the bottom up.

“I’m going to bring new things in terms of mobilisation, linking the party together with the legislature, and building the NRM base because I still have the energy to do it,” she told the cheering delegates.

Calling for civility and cohesion among contenders, Among urged fellow aspirants to put the party’s unity above rivalry. “We are in competition within NRM, but when these elections end, we must leave the party more united than before,” she said.

Busoga Delegates Rally Behind ‘Team Mulamu’

The meeting, led by Parliamentary Commissioner Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central), turned into a show of solidarity for Among, with delegates pledging to mobilise for her bid and champion development in their home districts.

“All of us here are committed to support you because of your leadership and mobilisation,” Silwany said. “We also urge you to set up development centres in every district of Busoga – even a factory in each – because you can do it.”

The “Team Mulamu” delegation included MPs Kibalya Maurice Henry (Bugabula South), Moses Magogo (Budiope East), and Bwire Sanoni Nadeba (Kaliro), among others, representing all districts in Busoga.

Among’s main challenger for the influential CEC seat is incumbent Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, who has held the position for more than ten years.
