22 Arrested in Kinawataka Night Operation, Found With Knives and Breaking Tools
Police in Kampala have arrested 22 suspects during an intelligence-led operation in Katoogo and Kinawataka, following mounting community concerns about rampant phone snatching and robberies.
The joint swoop, conducted on September 2, 2025, between 10 p.m. and midnight, targeted suspected criminals who have been taking advantage of prolonged load-shedding and darkness in the area due to a faulty transformer.
According to police, the suspects were found in possession of knives and breaking implements, and are currently being held at Kinawataka Police Station pending screening.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, said the suspects were dangerous and vowed that more operations would follow.
“The suspects we arrested were found with dangerous weapons and breaking implements,”
Police have pledged to continue conducting such operations to ensure the safety and security of residents in their communities.
“We shall continue to carry out such intelligence-led operations to combat criminality and ensure residents feel safe in their communities,” Onyango stated.
